We inhabit a world where everything can be artificially designed, from babies to viruses. This project combines two technologies to investigate alternative life scenarios with the help of sythetic biology and genetic engineering to rewrite the nature of life.
The first one is CRISPR, a technology that can be used to edit genes and, as such, will likely change the world.
The picture below is the result of our first successful experiment where we modified the DNA of a bacteria to live in a toxic environment.
We experimented to make a genome mutation (K43T) to the rpsL gene changing the 43rd amino acid, a Lysine(K) to a Threonine(T).
